Sun Around the World: December Update
Uncasville, CT - As the WNBA offseason unfolded in December, the Connecticut Sun's players were on a global mission, showcasing their skills across continents. From Europe to Australia and beyond, the Sun's stars Leïla Lacan, Migna Touré, and Haley Peters, along with the newly added Lindsay Allen, were making waves with their respective overseas clubs. Here's a breakdown of their impressive performances during the month!
Leïla Lacan
Lacan, a French basketball talent, led her team, Basket Landes, to a strong 3-2 record in the LFB and EuroLeague in December. Her scoring prowess was evident as she averaged 12.4 points across five games, never falling short of double digits. Lacan's versatility was further showcased with 1.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. The highlight of her month was a stellar performance against DVTK in the EuroLeague, where she scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists, and stole the ball once, contributing to a 77-70 victory.
Migna Touré
Touré, representing Turkish club Besiktas, had a balanced December, finishing 3-3 overall, 1-1 in the EuroLeague, and 2-2 in the Turkish league. Her most impressive outing came against Canakkale Bld. on December 20, where she led the team with 18 points, three rebounds, six assists, and one steal. Throughout the month, Touré averaged 8.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steal across six games, showcasing her all-around skills.
Haley Peters
Peters, a 6-2 forward, played in four out of seven games for Australia's Southside in December. The team's record improved to 3-4 with Peters in the lineup, and she averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals in those games. In the final game of the year, Peters had a career-high 21 points, four rebounds, six assists, and one steal, leading Southside to a 113-94 win over Sydney.
Lindsay Allen
Allen, the Sun's point guard, began her WNBA offseason in China with the Shandong team in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). She played in 10 games for Shandong in December, helping them achieve a 7-3 record. Allen's statistics were impressive, with 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 0.6 steals per game. She recorded double-digit scores in six games, including a standout 19-point performance in a 73-72 win over Shanxi on December 5.
